Prince Harry Faces Deportation Risks Again?

    Read Later

With the ongoing battle between Trump administrated US on Prince Harry’s US Visa case, now the court has ordered the documents related to Sussex’s Visa application to be released publicly by March 18.

The Court has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to provide a redacted version by Tuesday in accordance with the court documents from March 15.

    What is going on?

In 2023, Prince Harry published his memoir titled ‘Spare,’ in which he admitted to using drugs such as cocaine, marijuana, and psychedelic mushrooms.  He wrote about drug consumption as a 17-year-old unhappy boy “It wasn’t much fun, and it didn’t make me particularly happy, as it seemed to make everyone around me, but it did make me feel different, and that was the main goal. Feel. Different.”

In April 2024, under the Freedom of Information Act the Heritage Foundation, a think tank of the U.S. Administration, raised concerns in court regarding the unfair treatment of royalty and sued the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. They called for a review of Prince Harry’s application documents to determine whether he had lied or received any special treatment from immigration authorities.

In September 2024, the A.U.S. District Court favored Prince Harry’s official application for confidentiality and stated that privacy rights outweighed the public interest, Heritage Foundation countered with the appeal regarding public trust in immigration enforcement.

    The reopening of the case

Although the last verdict was in favor of the duke’s confidentiality, however, the latest development led to the reopening of the case in February as The Heritage Foundation thought that their appeal in Court was “Highly Compromised”. Judge Nichols ruled out by stating, “To the maximum extent possible, I’m required to make public everything that can be made public.”

On the other hand, DHS’s lawyer said, “Specifically, Defendant would propose redacting all information in these items that would reveal information that the Court has determined Defendant can withhold.”

The authorities hadn’t declared any form of records by disclosing limited details regarding the visa application.

    Trump’s take on the matter

The matter took political momentum when Donald Trump took a dig at the royal couple by saying “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”

Additionally, he stated that he “wouldn’t protect” Prince Harry, he added to the matter while talking to GB News, “No. We’ll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied, they’ll have to take appropriate action.”
