After almost a month, Beerbiceps A.K.A Ranveer Allahabadia is back with his podcast called The Ranveer Show. Ranveer got embroiled in a controversy after his appearance on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Talent. He faced huge backlash from fans and media and was forced to stop his podcast.
Sharing a picture on social media, Ranveer wrote, ” Missed you all. TRS is back.”
The controversy
Ranveer appeared on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent with YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani and social media influencer Apoorva Makhija in the latest episode. The backlash was caused because of Ranveer’s question for one contestant as he said, “Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or would you join in once and stop it forever?”
This comment caused huge backlash from netizens, which led to many people protesting to ban India’s Got Latent and Ranveer’s podcasts. The controversy escalated when the complaint were also filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission for allegedly using abusive language on the show.
All Indian Cine Workers’ Associations (AICWA) wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, demanding a ban on ‘India’s Got Latent’ and legal action against its creators.
But after a one month, the Supreme Court allowed Ranveer to resume releasing his podcast ‘The Ranveer Show’ and also asked him to maintain the ‘morality and decency’ in his podcast.
The SC also ordered, “As of now petitioners were restrained from airing any shows. Subject to the petitioner furnishing an undertaking that his podcast shows will maintain the desired standards of morality and decency so that viewers of any age group can watch, the petitioner is permitted to resume the Ranveer Show.”
Recently Ranveer also dropped a video of his latest podcast, stating,” For the last 10 years, I’ve released two to three videos every week without a break. This was a forced break. I learned patience and promise to create content with more responsibility moving forward.”
