    Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has once again set a new record, this time in the financial sector. At 82, the megastar has emerged as India’s highest tax-paying celebrity for the financial year 2024-25, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan. According to reports, Bachchan’s total earnings for the year amounted to an impressive Rs 350 crore, leading to a tax liability of Rs 120 crore.

    Reports indicate that his final advance tax installment of Rs 52.5 crore was paid on March 15, 2025. This move dethroned Shah Rukh Khan, who was previously the highest taxpayer, having paid Rs 92 crore in taxes last year.

    A report states that Bachchan’s income comes from multiple sources, including films, brand endorsements, and his long-running television stint as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati. His financial success has made him one of the highest-earning individuals in the Indian film industry, even at 82.

    A source close to the development shared, “From starring in some of Indian cinema’s biggest films to being the top choice for major brands, Amitabh remains an actor in demand. His earnings from these ventures amount to Rs 350 crore, making him one of the highest individual earners in the industry.

    With an income of Rs 350 crore, Bachchan paid a whopping Rs 120 crore in taxes for FY 2024-25, securing his place as the highest tax-paying celebrity in the country. Reports indicate that his final advance tax installment of Rs 52.5 crore was paid on March 15, 2025. This move dethroned Shah Rukh Khan, who was previously the highest taxpayer, having paid Rs 92 crore in taxes last year.

    Amitabh Bachchan a role model in financial discipline too 

    Bachchan’s commitment to financial discipline has been widely recognized. The source further stated that he ensures that he pays his taxes on time and remains a role model for many.

    By paying Rs 120 crore in taxes, Bachchan surpassed Shah Rukh Khan by 30% and moved from the fourth spot to the top of the highest tax-paying Indian celebrities list. In the previous financial year, the Paa actor had paid Rs 71 crore in taxes, meaning his tax contribution saw a sharp 69% rise this year.

    Other notable names on the list include Thalapathy Vijay with Rs 80 crore and Salman Khan, who paid Rs 75 crore in taxes.

    Despite his age, Bachchan continues to be a dominant force in the industry. He was last seen in Vettaiyan alongside Rajinikanth and Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone. He is also hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 and has confirmed his return for the next season.
